TAM 524 — MICROMECHANICS OF MATERIALS

COURSE REFERENCE NUMBER (CRN): 47619

Course Description: Mechanical behavior of structures and devices at small length scale has characteristic features that are distinct from that of large structures. These features are intrinsically related to the microstructures of materials and the micromechanisms involved during deformation and failure. TAM 524 presents advanced treatments of mechanics analysis of materials at small length scales. Topics covered in TAM 524 include atomistic basis of material behavior, mechanics of thin film materials, mechanics of heterogeneous materials, effects of dislocations on material behavior, etc. Contemporary research topics will also be discussed.
