Fall 2009 Semester

Please note that the University imposes a 5:00 p.m. (Central Time) deadline on submission of cancel, drop, withdrawal, and change of status paperwork.
 
August 12
  • Non-degree students should register for online courses by this date to avoid delay in receipt of login information (after this date contact Frank Hoskinson at fhoskins@illinois.edu with your course request).
August 21
  • Last day to cancel registration in order to receive a 100% refund of tuition and fees for Fall 2009 courses.
August 24
  • Instruction begins for Fall courses.
 
September 4 (official 10th day)
  • If you are registered in more than one course, 5:00 p.m. on this date is the deadline to drop3 one or more, but not all courses, and receive a 100% refund of tuition and fees for the dropped course(s). No refund is available thereafter for dropped courses.
  • Deadline to reduce course credit from 4 to 3 hours and receive a refund for the extra credit hour. No refund is available for reducing course credit after September 4th.
  • Last day to withdraw1 and receive a 90% refund of tuition (fees are not refundable2).
  • Last day for online MCS and MSME degree students to enroll using the Web Self-Service system. After this date, degree students must e-mail their course request to fhoskins@illinois.edu.
September 7
  • Labor Day (University offices are closed).
September 11
  • Last day to withdraw1 and receive a 80% refund of tuition (fees are not refundable2).
September 25
  • Last day to withdraw1 and receive a 70% refund of tuition (fees are not refundable2).
September 28
  • Fall 2009 tuition and fees are due.
 
October 9
  • Last day to withdraw1 and receive a 60% refund of tuition (fees are not refundable2).
October 16
  • Last day to withdraw1 and receive a 50% refund of tuition (fees are not refundable2).
  • Last day to withdraw1 or drop3 a course without a grade of "W".
October 30
  • Last day to withdraw1 and receive a 40% refund of tuition (fees are not refundable2).
  • No refund of tuition is available after this date.
 
November 13
  • Last day to add name to December degree list.
November 21-29
  • Thanksgiving break (no classes).
 
December 9
  • Instruction ends.
December 10
  • Last day to withdraw1 or drop3 a semester course without petitioning the Graduate College.
Decemer 11-18
  • Final exams for all online courses.

2The University charges a pro-rata withdrawal fee of $100. Administrative fees of $45 per credit hour are not refundable.
3Drop refers to dropping one or more, but not all, courses for the semester.
