Support Engineering at Illinois

Why does Engineering need my support through an annual gift?

State funding for higher education accounts for less than 19% of the University’s total budget—a significant decline from the nearly 50% in the early 1980s. Without the support of alumni, the college cannot continue to provide education, research, and public service at the standard of excellence that is associated with Engineering at Illinois.

Your gift provides more than essential financial support for the college. Faculty who are being recruited to the University look at giving rates as a gauge of the strength of the institution. The participation of alumni and others is also one criterion that establishes the college and University's national ranking. Your gift, large or small, is a vote of support for the college.

Please contact the Office of Advancement to discuss any questions that you have regarding ways you can support Engineering at Illinois.

Jim O'Neill (Computer Science)
"I was very happy to find that the U of I is one of the few online computer science programs delivered by a top 5—arguably top 3 institution—and that was what really sold me on Illinois. The opportunity to get an online education without making a compromise in terms of the quality of the education."
Jim O'Neill, Computer Science 2012
